Well, folks....Hope that you've had a great day ! It's been a nice and pleasant Saturday for me. Still not feeling perfect, but well enough to piddle around out in the cabin and I pulled out some wonderful things to offer you. Remember... I WAS going to open the store, but changed my mind....So, that's where this latest little batch of goodies has come from.

( and I'm not a big fan of faux) But these sweet, little semi sparkly strawberries are Devine ! 25 berries ranging from 3/4 to 1 1/4 . I've got them in a quart berry basket and while they don't fill it up... They look ever so sweet in the bed of straw that I have included..... 12.50 ( 3 sets available)

Are you glad it's FRIDAY ? I normally don't do anything different on the weekends these days. Everyday is a workday...but that's okay, because I LOVE my work. Today, however, I just haven't felt on the top of my game. Not feeling well at all. I did all my shipping this morning, then spent the rest of the afternoon - just being lazy. Absolutely NO energy. I didn't get my pictures together to offer things to sell here tonight as promised. I DO have some very cool things still to offer you . Tomorrow, I am still going to be a little lazy, but I definitely will get those photos taken and have them posted by tomorrow evening. It's been so much fun dealing with many of you over the past couple of days. I truly enjoy chatting with all of you who email me - and I SURE do appreciate your purchases ! Gathering the' Goods ...

"Tis been quite a lovely day in the farmhouse today . Although it's cold, damp and dreary outside - I managed to find some fresh mint sprouting up everywhere...brought it in and placed in little bottles and bowls everywhere. You'd think it was catmint...as, Ezra Cat has been literally flipping for it all day ! Actually, I'm not sure what kind of mint it is. I don't recall planting any there...I know it can grow like crazy anywhere.
I've been gathering the goods, creating and photographing all day. I'm planning another day of it tomorrow - after I ship a batch of orders out. If all goes as planned - I'll be posting lots of Fine Farmhouse goods for sale on Thursday. Lots of vintage things, created things. sweet and simple things that I hope will bring you joy.

Hey ! Great to see you !.... Don't just stand at the door.... Come on in !

Some of you have seen this room...it's changed alot. I got rid of my colonial decor . Went with a fresher look. It really is more "me" Yet, I still have much I want to do.

Have a seat, take a look around ! I've got the music playin' ! See my new clock ? I normally don't like imports...but, I Have been wanting a big giant clock for a long time...got this one for a steal ! Just needs new works . I just love clocks ! I want more !

I've been cleaning and redoing our living quarters today. I admit... I got a little carried away with the "staging" But, when I tried to take shots of how it actually is layed out..It wasn't that interesting, So, I thought I'd just "play" Ms. photographer. Hey...its what I like to do ! I need alot of practice- it's fun for me. Something to do on a cold winters day :-)

Meet "Matilda" She used to wear a prairie dress. Ditched that for a more up to date look . She's a pretty hip chic ! And don't you love that metal chair ? It totally doesn't belong in here, but, I just got it and don't know where to put it yet.

The scales are a new find... I bought it to sell ...but, I'm not so sure I want to now .

Too much stuff here really. I think I'll change it. I go back and forth on the clutter. Sometimes I like it simple...other times... I like to "pile it up" ( as my husband says)

Yes, I do like simple. This is peaceful.

A very short , but sweet post today to pop in and simply wish you a WONDERFUL weekend ! I have been making some fun plans for this fine farmhouse blog - yep ! I'm finally going to start doing what I've blabbed about many times before. I'll be sharing more ideas & photos much more often AND I will also be offering up some very fun things for sale and SOON !

I mentioned last week that I'd be re-opening my store - but, that's being postponed - at least for a while. I'm not going to put myself back into that stressful, pressure mode - I'm not setting any time limit. It'll
happen when I'm ready. Until then... I'll be bringing my store to YOU right here on this page - Fresh, fun and country things and will
still be offering more of my handmade goods on the Cinnamon Creek page. ( You will find this sign and more over there available now )

Out of the ordinary...

The days spent here around our fine farmhouse have been a little out of the ordinary. While I'm usually knee deep in creating my days away -Lately, I've found myself distracted with life & loved ones. That's what's most important, after all .

But,I have finally been able to start focusing on my work again. I've pulled out all those things I started on and showed off to you a couple weeks back - and am truly loving every minute of creating lots of new fun things . ( Like my folky heart above ? ) I've got lots of those in the works :-)

Plus lots of other Sweet & Simple things.
I'm very excited to complete all these pretties laid out before me - And So, that' is what i"m off to do ! Will be a big selection on Monday on my website ! Oh.... and have I told you the news ? A whole box of crayons...

I sit here...it the corner of my little winter studio - in such a mess, it looks like a madwoman has been on the loose ! Oh, wait.... there was !!!! ( smiles) These past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind trip for me, and I haven't even had to leave the comfort of my own home. Glad to be back :-)

Sounds like a madwoman...doesn't it ? I do get that way sometimes. I have a little bauble that hangs around my neck that says..."sometimes there was a storm in her brain" . So fitting for me. And I must say - it brings me comfort knowing that Sally Jean would create that- as I know she didn't do it just for me :-) ... So, there are others out there who feel the way I do??? Whew ! Usually , brainstorming is a good thing. I get SO inspired to do so many different things. AND, I really do feel there is much for me to offer - if only I had the time. I have created many dolls and little pieces of art lately - only to look over in one little corner here and see all the little heads ripped off of them. Did I do that ? Oh, yes I did ! Ha ! I was trying to mix it all up too much.... in as much as I have created some fine little pieces of folk art recently.... there are some freaky things in the mix over here :-) So, if this sign is true........

I"ll have to say -As far as my little creative world goes...I'm going to have to stick with a few select colors, or it all becomes too much like some crazy psychedelic trip for me !

I actually discovered this saying just a few days ago - AFTER my little personal creative struggle. I truly do love it though, and It is SO true . We should use the whole box of crayons in every aspect of our lives .

You may be able to see - by my new header and a few side picture additions that I'm back to my old self again. I like simple. I like light. I like peaceful. That's what you're going to continue seeing alot more of here at my fine farmhouse. OH....and there are a few other good things that did come out of this little episode of mine. This sign - for instance. I'm working on a whole new line of signs, art pieces and pillows with special messages such as this.

Hello my Sweet Friends ! It's been quite awhile since I've posted.... Seems time slips away and there is always so much to do. The past month just went way , way, way to quickly. I truly hope all is well with you all. The Christmas Season is upon us, and I"ve managed to get back into the swing of creating and decorating around My Fine Farmhouse !

A Fun and Funky Tree for me this year...I made some similar to these back in the 80's. Saw one on pinterest awhile back and decided to make my own , updated version. I LOVE IT ! I have made a few and they are available on my Cinnamon Creek site. Along with a few other goodies I have posted.......

Wrapping Kit....to make all your little packages quite uncommon and Very Special.....

Goat Hill Soap Gift Sets.... Oh, the Herbal bar soap is the bomb ! as well as the oatmeal and honey ! I've been pouring lots of candles too ! It sure smells heavenly around "the creek" .

I'm working hard on creating many lovely things to offer on Friday night....Yes...It's a special Online Gathering that I've been building up to... I'm offering a few little lovely things for sale each night. I've been setting up little "shopping baskets" and whenever someone speaks up for something they want...I set aside in their 'basket" and you can come back each evening to see what else I've posted..... Early November...

November is always such a busy month.... I suppose for all of us ~ Preparing for the holidays and all. This week is an especially busy week for me, but, I wanted to take a little time to stop and say Hello to all of my blogging friends today. I haven't had much to blog about lately. I suppose I've been a little discouraged with all the messes around me lately . Seems I just can't seem to keep things neat and orderly around here these days. This unfinished house gets to me sometimes. Especially when the holidays draw near, and I have company coming. I've been trying to live with the downstairs as it is, and decorate it anyway, even though the walls are unfinished drywall, some aren't walled yet, so you can see insulation everywhere...geez ! I am just going to focus on what I do have, and not worry about the rest. It is what it is. Now, If I can just keep that attitude at all times, I'd be alright.

I am extremely fortunate to have all that I do have....afterall, the upstairs is wonderful, and I am able to unleash some of my decorating needs up there. I just love stuff ! As for me...it's the simple things that please me the most.

I may not be able to do alot of things in the downstairs ...but, I can arrange with little vignettes, and play photographer. It's my fun.

I also want to share with you my Favorite Potato Soup recipe. Potato soup has always been my comfort food...I dearly love it with a grilled cheese sandwich. A hearty helping of that will make

all my sorrows go away :-) Now, my husband is not a big soup fan, but, he said this last batch was the best he's ever had. Just the right texture and consistancy. I will have to agree. Here's the recipe....

6 cups diced potatoes
1 cup shredded potatoes
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped celery
4 cups chicken broth
4 cups half & half ( use fat free - it's just as good :-)
6 tbs. butter
salt and pepper to taste
Simmer the diced potatoes , celery and onion in broth until tender. Mash JUST a few of the potatoes. Then, add the shredded potatoes, half & half, and butter.
Simmer and stir occasionally until piping hot. Top it off with some shredded cheese, chives and bacon bits. Really, really good !

I have have been in a very grungy and primitive mood lately. You'll find some very scrappy Santas, snowmen, and other cool things on there tonight. I think you'll like what you see. For those of you who don't know about my handmades... You might want to take a peek .... I like to think it's more authentic style folk art. More crude and scrappy kind of things. I strive to be unique and original. Check it out if you get a chance.

Lazy Sunday....

It's such a peaceful afternoon. I'm alone in the workshop, well, there are my furry friends here:-) - doing some organizing, Listening to a little James Taylor ( my favorite this time of year) Is it just me, or do you like to listen to certain artists only certain times of the year ? For me Cool Fall weather = James Taylor - Live.... ( the live version of Country Road is my all time fave )

I've been packaging and labeling my new soaps...well...I didn't make it - but, it's made very near here. I'm thrilled to be selling such wonderful goatmilk soap. I'm kind of a nut about handmade soap. My favorite scent right now is patchouli. Folks either love it or hate it. I guess it's the little hippie inside of me :-) I also have Applejack and Oatmeal and Honey. It's really good for you soap

Yesterday, I poured candles. I was plumb out of all of them. I have a new scent too.... PURE MAPLE CREAM...It is heavenly ! If you want to check any of my things out... just visit CINNAMON CREEK

back of the house, washhouse, and a peek of the cabin ( Don't look to close...my decorating went lame this year... but, that's another blog post :-)

I can just feel it....the last few pretty days of the year are happening now here around Cinnamon Creek. In just a few days it will be cold and rainy...and then all the pretty colors will be gone. I'm making sure we get out and soak in every last minute of this beauty and sunshine before the dreary days of winter start to creep in.
I've been creating up a storm in the studio. Yes...working on a new batch of
very special items - part of my "Goat Hill" Collection.... A selection of very torn and tattered dolls, their goat friends,turkeys with paper wings and some other things that just feel good this time of year. I had said before that I was working on Christmas, and I have been :-)....but, I don't want to rush things. Will do this Thanksgiving themed update and then, we'll head on to Christmas. I'm shooting for this weeks update to be on Wednesday. I'll let everyone know - just as soon as I know. I hope to go for a long walk in the woods with my sweetie today :-) So, I'm not setting anything in stone.

A Chilly Day in Autumn....

It's quite a chilly day today...here at our Kentucky home. Cloudy too. I truly love days like this. Occasionally , at least. Makes me ready to cozy up in my favorite chair, enjoy the warmth of the fire and sketch on new ideas. Ahhhh... I look forward to that this evening !

A little plain - but striking, I think. I intend to make a crow or an owl for this branch I have leaning against my washhouse. I must get that done . Perhaps I'll work on that tomorrow :-)

Busy , busy, busy

What a beautiful, but busy weekend we had here at the farmhouse. It all went by way too quickly !

I basically spent most of my time working and selling on the site... It's that time of year. Time to pick up the pace if I want to make ends meet and have a nice holiday season . I enjoy my work so much, sometimes forget that it's all we have to pay our bills and buy our groceries. I have found myself slacking off a bit too much since the weather has turned off so nice. I have a busy week ahead. Completing some orders over the next 2 days, THEN...it's time to start all my Christmas goodies..Finally ! I can't wait to get started ! Over the weekend... I listed several good old vintage things for sale...

I Just turned 47 on Monday. I'm so blessed to be an October Child. Life is so beautiful ...Especially this time of year. Past few years, I haven't really recognized my birthday. But , this year ~ I celebrated all week long. I needed this. I just took a little time everyday to do something I love.

Hello My Friend....

I just had to stop for a moment and say Hello ! I've not had much computer time this past week. My sweet Hubby had a minor surgery ( hernia) and he's having a hard time getting around. I've been by his side since Monday. Our only computer is in my workshop. Today, I got a chance to sneak out here and check in on everything. I was pleasantly surprised to find some sweet comments and new followers :-) I just want to say.....WELCOME ! to my FINE FARMHOUSE !

While husband sitting, I'm working on new projects and plenty of new creations to offer for sale this week on my Cinnamon Creek site. Fun stuff ! Hope that you enjoy your weekend.....Its such a lovely cool weekend here in Kentucky.... I'm heading back to the house to open the windows.... The fresh fall air will be SO good for us....might help Michael heal faster :-)

Today I wanted to just take a moment to Thank all of you who have been dedicated followers, AND to the many new followers ! I'm starting to get addicted to blogging. It's great fun for me to
do all of this. I have been working on new things to post and I've also added the "Label Cloud" to the right. You can now click on any word that might appeal to you to find older posts. I've been asked lately about more of my home. There are several old pics on this blog, if you select "Farmhouse" or Decorate" You will find several.
Seems like I've been talking about fall decorating forever. Still no pumpkins or bittersweet to find. You know...those things that really help add the color and real feel to it all. Hopefully, I'll find it all this weekend. Then I can get back to playing Ms. photographer and take more decorating pics. I look forward to spending some time catching up with you folks and your blogs this weekend too. Can't wait for a little downtime to do so ! Find yourself 4 legs and.....

Tah, dah........Make yourself a coffee table ! Easy as that !

I have had this old chicken crate in the shop forever. It always made a great display piece. When I started to tackle our downstairs T.V. room.... I needed to get very creative, for, I have no decorating budget. All I had to do was go to my local hardware store and I found these turned legs for 3.00 each ! gave them a distressed black finish, screw them on, and that was it ! I really love it ! Please don't notice the unfinished floor and all the other mess.... This room is still a work in progress. I will be searching for the perfect area rug. You won't believe what I have in mind :-) Hopefully SOMEday I can get this all finished and get some decent pictures.
It's going to be such a nice cool weekend here in Kentucky. I plan on breathing in every bit of it. Hope you have some fun plans. ENJOY whatever you do !

Simply sharing one of my favorite new photos of one of our newest furry friends. And other faves around the house that I through together in a fun collage. As I write this, I'm baking cinnamon struesel bread . Then, it's on to stringing more harvest garlands and other good things ! I'm still waiting for pumpkins before I take pictures of some of my fall settings outside. Hopefully they'll be in before too long.

I got my copy of Folk yesterday. What a nice fresh look for a magazine ! They did a very nice job featuring my photos, and was surprised to see my uncommon folk as a favorite as well ! There really is a lot of good stuff in there. Thanks , Ben !
On my next post...I'll finally show you my coffee table project. You know, I've been trying to fix up my unfinished living room as best I can so that we can make good use of it this winter. It's quite a challenge having to "make do" ...but, it is what I do best ! Hope I can get some good pics.

September Morn....

Hello my friends ! Todays post is short and sweet. It's actually a test. I have been trying so hard to improve my blog over the last few months. Not until yesterday did I finally figure it all out. So, I am simply posting a couple of pics to see if they will show up bigger and hoping my fonts will be different too.
I did alot fall decorating on Saturday.... then it rained, then I found my camera battery was low. Plus., I still can't find pumpkins. I really need the color to make everything pop. I'll be sharing all that soon enough. Here's a couple good shots that I got though... Lets hope this works..... Looks like I'm able to post extra large now...without the pics getting blurry....yay !

I am thrilled to finally be able to post bigger pics ! I realize my Simon Kitty pic is probably WAY too big... But, he's just so handsome, I wanted you to meet him up close and personal :-) lol ! I'm really just experimenting . NOW, with a little more practice... I can make my posts a little more creative when I feel the need ( I hope :-)

Autumn Anticipation...

It's been a long , hot summer here in Western Kentucky. Although I don't care much for time flying so swiftly...this is the time of year that I SO look forward to each coming day.... Enjoying cooler mornings and evenings... Tomorrow promises to be high temps in the lower 70's ! That will be reason to celebrate...for sure !
I've been laying low for the past couple of weeks. Doing some soul searching, trying to be really creative, and just enjoying some time in the house. I have started taking more and more work into the house lately. It gets old staying out here in the workshop all the time. However...today, I have enjoyed this workshop...I always do when it's candle making time ! As I write, the air is filled with the most comforting aroma of butternut pumpkin ! My newest candle fragrance. It's a blend of pumpkin, allspice , cinnamon and clove with a touch of vanilla. It's so inspiring for me ! I've got several poured already today. Earlier, as I waited for the wax to cool before pouring, Kate ( my dog )and I went exploring, while Mr. enjoyed his morning coffee.
Kate just loves to ride in our golf cart . It's as if she lives for the thrill of the ride ! Mike says we should have named her CeCe ( Cece Rider - Old Elvis song :-) ...not sure if I spelled it correctly ) Anyway....I drove to the sunflower patch on the other side of the cabin and started cutting heads. One of my most favorite things to decorate with in the fall. I love to fill and old wooden bowl....or simply hang a small bunch of them off the pegs. You'll see them used in many different ways around my house when I start sharing some pics later this week. I've been gathering many of natures gifts over the past couple of weeks. I'll be making some garlands and arrangements. Such fun things to work with ! I can't wait to get our pumpkins and gourds. Hopefully will find some in the next week or two.

I'm off to finish all the little characters that I've made this week. You can expect to meet a few goode witches, The most rustic scarecrows, charming pumpkin heads this coming week on the website...along with a lots of wee little harvesty critters that you've never , ever seen before ! And , of course.... the newest candles and some of these natural items I've been talking about. It's been a good week ! I feel like Stella..... I've got my groove back :-)
I look forward to posting again soon... I've got lots of photos I hope to take in a few days.... things around the house. It's going to be a WONDERFUL week !

Printing on Fabric

My goodness... It seems everytime I say I'm going to do something.... a million things get in my way, I get behind, and loose track of time. There is just so much to do in a day. But, I love everyminute of it. I never got the time over the weekend to do my printing on fabric tutorial...HOWEVER...there are several online so, I'm just sending you to one of those. There are so many ideas and tutorials out here in the cyber world...all you really have to do is search !

So, if you want to transfer images onto fabric - similar to those on my own line of pillows below ... YOU can make your own, original versions too ! The ideas will come to you, once you learn how to do this....Just think of the things that YOU could come up with ! Here's the link... How to print on fabric

How to Age Paper for Printing ... My way

I've been aging my own paper for as long as I can remember. This morning, I thought I'd be sneaky and save myself some time by finding a tutorial already online to post for you.....However, I don't do mine like any of those that I found. Reason being.... all other instructions I saw - said to print your paper first. Well, when I do that - my images fade away... I use what I think most of us use... an inkjet printer. And the ink is not always permanent. You can stain after...only if you have a laser printer.

I will tell you step by step how to make paper look old yourself - just like I do it on all of my things......It is SO easy !

The only thing that you already need to know is how to create and manipulate your images.... Most of us have a program for that. I'll tell you.... I have a Mac computer. That's all I've ever had. I don't know about any other programs out there..besides my "Pages" from Iwork ....but, I know there are a lot of great tools that are available...you just have to find out for yourselves ( I only add this because I have been asked :-)

Things you will need..... Paper ( any paper will work....plain white printer paper works great, or if you are making cards or something you would like a bit heavier.... use cardstock. White or parchment.
instant coffee
water
paintbrush
cookie sheet
bakers parchment
*Mix together 1 tablespoon of instant coffee to 1 quart of hot water.( Now, this is a lot....so, if you are only doing a few sheets...you may narrow it down to half that)Stir well until all coffee is dissolved. * You will also find that you may want more or less coffee.... I tend to go double on the instant coffee... I like my things dark .
* MY PREFERRED method for doing this is to do it outside - in the sun. You simply brush both sides of your paper and lay it out on something that you don't mind getting coffee stained. If there is a breeze blowing... set a rock or two on the paper...you don't want it to blow away ! I have a cruddy old table that I keep out for these purposes...but, you might use an old board or something like that.
*If you want to do this inside... HERE'S HOW...Have your cookie sheet ready with the bakers parchment and set your paper onto the sheet. Brush both sides of your paper that you are wanting to age. You don't want it to puddle. If it does... dab with paper towel.
*Place in oven set at 200 degrees for approximately 5 minutes. DO NOT leave unattended. Just keep check on it until it looks dry.
Once you remove your paper from the oven. How does it look to you ? If you want it darker...simply add a bit more coffee to your mixture and do over. You will most likely need to experiment a little to get your personal desired effect. It is now time to IRON IT !
* If you are going to run your stained paper through your computer..you must iron it, as it most likely got a bit wrinkled up during the aging process. It must be flat as brand new before you run it through your printer...or it will get jammed. Simply iron it on a low setting...you might want to use some parchment over and under to keep any staining from happening to your iron or ironing surface.* Now that your paper is flat..... it's ready to print , or stamp, or whatever you wish to do to it !

Make your own STATIONERY & NOTECARDS Paper Dolls, Print script and make your own Heart and star cutouts for ornaments and tags....

AND make your own Prints ! There are SO many places on the web that you can find free graphics. Just search ! It's that easy ! There's a great gal out there who makes it her hobby to

share lots of cool graphics with us all. It's the Graphics Fairy ! You'll find her link on the right :-)

I hope I've helped you today. I"m not very good at explaining things...SO, if I've left something out...please feel free to question me by leaving a comment.
Of course...you can use this aging technique on new prints, book pages, and things copied at your local printer. The ideas are endless !

A Week of Gratitude

I have been blogging off and on for a couple of years now. I really do enjoy it... but, I don't have time to do all that I'd like to share on here. What bothers me most, is that I don't get to visit many of YOUR blogs out there . Just not enough time in a day for me. It means SO much to me that anyone would take the time to stop and read what I'm doing. I don't know how to Thank you enough. I've seen a lot of bloggers out there have giveaways and contests. And on Facebook too..... Contests to get more "Likes"..... I've never asked for a single one of those likes or followers... but, OH, how I appreciate you all ! You ALL deserve a prize ! Now, If I could only think of a way to do that . I think I have. First off... for today..... I am offering you these graphics. Feel free to use them however you like ! And for those of you who aren't quite into using these... I am thinking on other projects and ideas to share with you this week . This will be a week of Gratitude from me, to YOU !

As far as I know... these images are public domain...gathered from free graphic places on the web. If you like this idea.... I'll try to gather a few more for you this week. You can use these to print on little notecards, age some paper and make instant "antique" prints, make fabric transfers for pillows ! The possibilities are endless. Busy as a Bee

From the Pantry...

You haven't seen me do alot from my Farmhouse kitchen. Several reasons.... Our renovations are not complete, that means we have a tiny, make -do kitchen area for now. Which, really , is fine, because, seriously.... I'm not much of a cook anyway :-) Oh..... I would like to be. How could I not be ? My Mother, Grandmother AND both of my Sisters are excellent cooks ! I really don't think I'm that bad... I think it' s more that I have a picky husband :-) Hey...works for me ! That saves me alot of trouble, and I get to go out to eat alot !
I do, however, get the hankering every now and then to bake a few things. And I do love casseroles and soups...which the Mr. does not...so, I make it all for myself when I do take the time to make such dishes - and freeze some for later.

Yesterday, was the anniversary of my Mothers passing. It's been 11 years. So hard to believe. Gone way too soon. I miss her every single day. I love this picture of her in our kitchen where I was raised.... I was 3 years old when this was taken. Some of my best memories are of her and our family in that kitchen .Momma used to love to drag out the old Underwood typewriter...and type up recipes. I can remember many a Sunday afternoon spent in the kitchen with her...watching her and playing with that old typewriter. Those old keys were so hard to press ! Take a look at that chicken and dumplin recipe up there.... looks like the "p" just wouldn't do it's thing . Ha ! She had to fill that letter in :-)

This is something that I've wanted to do Forever....Finally did.... framed some of my favorite recipes of hers. Anyone can do this with their own family recipes. Simply find a nice frame that you like.... I used some aged fabrics for the backgrounds... I'd love to have used some old cloth from an old apron or kitchen curtains of Mothers...but, I didn't have any of that. But, how wonderful if you do ! Frame them anyway you wish.... What a lovely way to preserve some special memories ! Oh, My Momma made THE BEST deserts ! I have my favorites framed now...and I'll hang them in my humble little kitchen.

Here is another very neat way to showcase some of those cherished recipes.... pin them on a line . Tuck in a picture or two, a couple bundles of herbs...and Tah, dah ! A very fun and creative touch for under a cabinet, a swag over a window, or wherever you see fit.Mmmmm ! Buttermilk pie ! One of my favorites ! We actually always called it Chess pie...but, Here is the recipe..... So good ! Not one of those that I make very often at all...My gosh...it is SO not good for you...but, heck...you have to have a treat every now and then !

You know...our little kitchen is not so bad.... I really don't mind it at all... It's functional... I really need to fix it up a little more...and just get creative with what I have...So, that I will do ! I do have some wonderful things that I need to pull out of storage, Perhaps I will do just that and share some of it with you in my next post ! Until then....maybe you'll enjoy these projects that I've shared...and if you're not really into do it yourself ....I'll have some similar things to offer you later in the week.

Today, I'm just going to relax and smile. Seems I worry way too much about every little thing...and I know sometimes I don't worry, when , perhaps I should worry...does that make sense ? I usually don't make a lot of sense. Anyway... I have been thinking alot about what acts I can do, what things I can make, what pictures I can take, What steps I can make.... to REALLY make a difference. That may sound silly in the whole scheme of things. As I know there are SO many problems in this world. Yet, I just want to do something different, and actually BE something different in my own little world.

So, I've been working up a storm in my little studio.... working on my new Fall goodies... uncommon things. I'm also planning my guestroom redo , perhaps a fun project to share here on the blog . I want to bake and cook a little more and I really, really, really want to learn more about taking a good photograph. I got that fancy shmancy camera a while back...and ,while I have seen some good results.... there is so much that I can't grasp. Yes... I must work on this.... I want to make this blog 'o mine...something FABuloUS !

I will share a bit of excitement.... as I've shared with you before, FOLK magazine is doing a spread on our Farmhouse. ( SO happy ) I am very honored to be included AND that Ben wanted to use many of my own photos for the piece. That made my Day ! Oh, Yeah ! this makes me SMILE ! And it all just makes me want to do more.... I'm very inspired. I just need to get out more, and find more photo ops. I truly enjoy doing close ups of cool things. I need more cool things :-) Perhaps an antiquing trip is in order soon ! It's just so doggone hot around here ! This is the week of the big 800+ mile yard sale . I'll never understand why it is held this time of year, here in the south - It's WAY too hot for that journey. What wonderful photo ops there would be for me. However, We did it for 3 years , always came home with a good load. But, always exhausted and miserable from it. Never again will I go. Some things just aren't worth it.

I've rambled on enough for the day. I am off to finish some work for the day...ship some orders, and then relax. Ahhhh !

Up until about 2 years ago...I had always decorated very primitively. I THOUGHT I liked that what was all the rage - it was too much of an early style for me. I was actually trying to decorate my big white 1913 Farmhouse as it were an old pioneer home or something...crazy ! ( at least for me... I just could not get comfortable with that. I also had quite a collection of teddy bears and old toys ... That was all fun to collect for awhile..but, it is g.o.n.e. Well, except for my absolute favorite pieces. I sold all of the items that I could live without....turns out...that was ALOT ! I've been experimenting... I lived with a white and natural color scheme for awhile..which I really liked... it was peaceful and calming.... but, NOW... I'm having fun adding back punches of color. I really like the direction I'm going in. Today, I'm sharing a few random shots of a few of my favorite spots at home.......

Still using all of my favorite objects of affection....trying to display it all in a whole new way. I have a very long way to go to get it like I want it - but, finally have a direction that I am excited about. I am striving to display these things as little objects of art, instead of piled up collections.... This is fun stuff ! I now know what I need and want to get this place whipped back into shape ! More to come in the future.... It's so nice to have fun doing what I always loved again. I lost the decorator in me for awhile.

For the life of me... I just can't seem to get settled ! Oh, it is getting better around here..that's for sure...but, taking me much longer than I thought. I, mean, really..how can I expect to clean up 3 years worth of pile ups in just 2 weeks ? I'm enjoying some time to make things and take care of my little family too :-).
So, here are just some random things that I've been into this past week......

My first sunflower ! I have a nice little plot started...so far..this is the only one I have..... It inspired a mini photo shoot !
I really have had to work some these past few weeks.... I created my new candle line :-) If you would like to see more.... link to my website is in the sidebar . My goodness .... They all smell SOOOOO good !
I've put together some new Farmhouse gift baskets as well !
Little Miss Kate is doing very well ! She has moved inside ! LOL ! She is such a nice calm dog...and is just so loving and sweet. She's good for both Me and Michael... and , the Cats too !

A bushel and a peck....of CUCUMBERS !

Every year.... I swear, I will not put in a garden. It's too much work and I can buy produce from the Amish family when they set up their stand in town. Yet, we find ourselves again, picking tons of squash, cucumbers, peppers corn and I do believe we are going to have the finest tomatoes EVER this year ! I truly do enjoy it all....even with all the hard work. I've been picking squash and cucumbers like crazy. I made some Fridge pickles yesterday.

I always put them up - using Mike's grandmothers recipe......

2 pickling cucumbers
1/2 white onion, thinly sliced
1/4 cup fresh dill, loosely chopped
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
1 cup white vinegar
1 cup water
2 cups ice cubes

Slice cucumbers as thin as possible and place in a large bowl. Add thinly sliced onions and chopped dill. Mix in sugar, salt, pepper, capers (if desired) and ice cubes. Add vinegar and water, stir until sugar and salt dissolves. Refrigerate until ready to use. Store in air-tight container in fridge.

Makes 2 cups of sliced cucumbers.

Next batch I make I'm using this recipe that I just found this morning....It sounds wonderful....Will add a nice twist to our standard recipe.....
Fridge Pickles

makes about 1 quart

1 cup white vinegar

1/4 cup sugar

1 tablespoon sea salt

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

6 whole cloves

2 bay leaves

1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (I use about 1/4 so they're not too spicy for the kids)

1 teaspoon dill seed

4 to 5 small kirby (pickling) cucumbers, peeled in stripes and sliced into 1/8 inch thick rounds

1 small white onion, thinly sliced into rounds (I tend to go a little light on the onion. They get in the way of my pickles!)

Combine the vinegar, sugar, salt, black pepper, cloves, bay leaves, red pepper flakes and dill seed in a quart jar. Place the lid on the jar and shake until the sugar has dissolved.

Layer the cucumbers and onion in the jar using a wooden spoon to press them tightly into the jar. Place the lid on the jar, shake it well and refrigerate at least 4 hours, shaking the jar occasionally to keep the ingredients mixed. These pickles will keep in the refrigerator for at least one month.

I realize that this post is all mixed up with fonts and all...ha ! I don't think I'll ever get the hang of posting on blogger... I copy and paste, and can't match the fonts. It's just a mess. Please forgive me ;-) Hope that you enjoy the rest of your week !

Summer Days....

Hello to you ! This past week - I've been as busy as can be...simply regrouping and getting organized. It's been great fun, actually. And I still have such a long way to go to have it all just the way I want it. And that's is just my workshop and studio I've been working on. I haven't even started on the house yet ! Told ya' I was behind on everything :-) However, this is a new little vignette in the house. Very fresh and farmy .I did take a day or two off - to enjoy the holiday with friends and family. That was a nice change of pace. We don't often do that. Shameful to say...but, will continue to do so from here on out, That's for sure !
With as much cleaning and decorating that I still need to do.... I can't wait to dive into creating ! I have been pouring my new candles while doing all this clean up.... , Can't wait to show those to you.... and this weekend - I'll start making some of my new cloth , folk art goodies. I think I've got some great new ideas....Oh, yeah !

So blessed am I ... I AM able to let the beauty I love, be what I do. It's alot of hard work...but, a pure pleasure. I've been taking pictures all day of goods that I have finished and will be offering some of them here, on this blog tomorrow. Can't wait to show you what I've been up to ! Change your mind...Change your life

Fresh thinking, fresh attitudes.... inspiring and invigorating for the soul ! SIMPLIFY !

I've needed a change for the past few years, as I've just had way too much on my plate so to speak....and haven't been able to accomplish one single task and be happy with it. I've needed a little relief...and with a little nudging from my Husband.... I finally figured it out......duh......

The question was posed...what if, what if, I didn't have the cabin, yes, our beloved cabin store, to deal with every week. Just what if ? I put myself in that place for just a bit and..... ahhhhh ! That was it ! Imagine not having to keep a building full of things constantly. It has been

extremely difficult to get away anymore to even go shop for things to put in it....and to try to keep my folk art made up to keep in it was ever so difficult as well. Even though I have it all

right here at home, the store on our property...It was all too much for this little girl to handle. SO... Hooray ! I just did it.... The cabin is closed :-)

What a difference a week makes ! The last time that I posted....I was very nervous and excited about that big idea - and I can already tell, it was absolutely the right decision ! Already I'm able to think straight and focus. I will be focusing only on creating and selling on my website. Hooray ! A lot less pressure for me..... AND... I've got THE BEST customers from all over the country right here, online ! Now, don't get me wrong.... I have SO enjoyed our cabin customers. But, I've also been very lucky to have such a nice following of online friends that I've come to know over the past few years.... when I was spending more time on the Cinnamon Creek Site . I'm glad to be back ! Back to sharing ideas and selling my wares online ! I've got so much to offer you ...just wait and see ! New designs are in the works, plans are being made for all kinds of goodness in the coming months ! It's all a fresh new beginning for me !

This will also allow me to spend some more quality time with Michael and my family in the future. Just before last weeks Gathering at the cabin.... Michael had a scary spell, and we had to get to the ER.... spent the night in the hospital, they ran alot of tests. Didn't find anything out of the ordinary ( for him ) and sent him home. He does have a very weak heart... It is my job to keep an eye on him and make sure that he will be okay. I Love him dearly.

So, here's to fresh starts, new attitudes and a bright future for us all. Sometimes we just need to sit back and take a look at things from a different view. Change is good !

Ch-ch-ch-cha - CHANGES...

I have had butterflies in my belly for a week..... I love butterflies....it's excitement for things to come...different things, better things. Not really things.....but, you know what I mean .
Big changes coming for me this week.... I am getting the chance to start reorganizing my workshop and home....my whole life as I know it....and I'm going to have more time for creating and doing what I love ! I've gotten rid of a few big headaches and obstacles that have been clouding my view....and I am ready to head down a new path for myself... Yay !

In the coming weeks....I will be creating more, doing more and BEING more. MORE to myself, my husband, and all of those around me.....including you all....my online friends.

Bright thoughts on a gloomy day...

"Twas a cool and gloomy Friday. I spent a very quiet but pleasant day in the cabin making Dolls. These indigo dressed girls are almost finished . They sit in the window sill...waiting for their final details. How do you like my jeans ? I had a few accidental paint splotches on them...I covered that mess up with my little homespun patches..and actually just cut one of those ugly stains out. Why is it that I think this looks better ? It suits me :-)

Kate spent the day with me . Simon the cat was there most of the time too. I must get a pic of the two of them together....they are a hoot ! Oh...a little update..... Kate is doing a little better sticking around. But, she seems to get a little displaced every now and then and goes and stands in the middle of the road...as if she is waiting for someone. I'm thinking someone just dumped her on the side of the road...and she is lookiing for them. It's rather sad. She is such a sweet thing. She really seems to love us. It's just so hard to think about investing 200.oo plus in what it will take to get her shots, spayed, and everything else that is required...when she absolutely will not stay in our fenced area and plays in the road. But, she is worth the gamble I think...so, we will finally take her to the vet on Tuesday. I better get to work and make some $$$ lol !

I actually have been working hard :-) I've been stocking up on lots of wonderful primitives for The Summer Celebration ( June 11th ) Here at Cinnamon Creek Cabin...I'm getting SO excited for it ! I'm really focusing on filling the shop with all my favorite folk art designs.... AND plenty of new things..... Lots of classic AMeriCan Country THinGs.... You'll love it !

I'm not showing alot of that just yet.... but, Get ready for lots of handmades and fun finds !

The sun has finally popped out this morning.... I look forward to another day in the shop - I'll be there with my pals, working on more good things :-) and am certain we'll have a few friends stop by to visit and shop ! Hope that you all have a FANTASTIC weekend.... Be Safe and Have fun !

I was told a while back that I should decide what I like and stick with it...Decide already ! she said. Ha ! I say......Phoohey !!!! I am absolutely having a blast experimenting with different looks and styles over the past couple of years. It's such an interesting journey..and has helped me REdiscover myself again.

Today...I'm simply sharing my Love of color....YES.... color ! .... Some of you may know how much I love white and neutral...but, I think I have developed spring fever...and have fallen head over heels back in love with color again. This time...not the drab.... BUT...the FRESH & VIBRANT colors of spring and summer. I am learning that I can use it when I want...and then take it away when I feel the need. How fun is that ! Anyway...more on that later...I do , indeed plan on sharing pics of what I've been up to...obth home and business...but, for today.... Meet Kate ...

This is Kate..... I don't know where she came from...... She simply appeared in the middle of the road, out in front of the house on Friday. I walked out to get her and guide her to safety...and

now she thinks she needs to stay. No collar - She was a dirty old tick infested little hound . As sweet and charming as she can be. No one has been around looking for her. We do not need a dog. It's the LAST thing I need ! One more responsibility for me to have to deal with. And it's ridiculous the cost just to keep a dog healthy. I really can't deal with it. HOWEVER...... I knew she was mine the minute I layed my eyes on her. It's was if she spoke to me....Hello There.... I'm "Kate"....right on the spot. A very kind, gentle and well mannered little thing. We're pretty good pals already. I think she needs me. Maybe I need her too.

Today, I celebrate my Momma. She left this earth almost 11 years ago. I miss her terribly. Although, She does live in my heart...that is for certain.

She was absolutely the most incredible woman I've ever known. Lynette was her name....

Kind, loving and so very strong....... I strive every day to be half as good as she was. She smiled all the time....even through the bad times.... But, there were mostly good times. She loved music... was always listening to music... The song that is playing now was one of our favorites when I was just a little girl. It's a song that I sing to myself so often these days. Que sera, sera.... I am so blessed to have had her as a Momma..... So very Grateful to her for my life.

Daydreamer...

This has been a week of daydreaming for me. And some of those daydreams are becoming reality over the next few days ! 'Tis been the perfect week for all of this - as it's been raining a storming all week. Couldn't get out in the gardens....so, I was able to really sink my teeth into this project. For a long time - I've wanted to have a line of fresh, wholesome soaps , body scrubs, etc....Along with all the little " go withs" to have that sort of area in my store. It has taken me a year now...to find just the right recipes, ingredients, scents, etc... And to start putting it all together ! I just LOVE doing this stuff ! I am not making the soaps...that's far too time consuming...but, I've decided on the most wonderful goatsmilk soaps to purchase...Great soap - that I've actually used for a long time....and will now carry lots of :-) .... and I'll be making my body scrubs, bath salts, etc.. AND...so much more will be added over the next month or so !

I'm off to get started on all of it now...and I will be sharing it all with you before too long.

Here's hoping that you can make all of your little daydreams come true !

Eggs in a row ...

I'm still here. It's been such a busy, yet, really uneventful time here lately..... I have been so focused on trying to get all promised orders out and filling the store. Just getting all my "eggs" in a row ...as opposed to ducks... 'cause, I just don't have any ducks :-) I honestly have not even thought about blogging . the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly...

For the life of me.... I can't seem to get any good shots of a whole room. I'm much better at focusing on smaller vignettes. I had to start out with the good.... I''ve just freshened up a little around the upstairs area of our house...brought back a little color. I'll admit.... I smile at the site of anything olde blue...My absolute favorite accessory to use...to add color is simply pieces of old cloth ... displayed proudly anywhere I see fit. Here you'll see my favorite simple piece of paprika check homespun. It just cheers up a dull corner !
I'm still finding that I just love anything farmy. I love cows, cowbells, and pictures of cows. I love Eggs too ! I should do a whole blog on my love of the egg alone ! But, for now.... I'm going to show you the ugly. Are you ready ? There are a couple pics coming up that I must show you.There it is....... The downright ugly ! This is what we see first everyday when you walk into our side door of the house. 11 years It's been this way. Well...It's actually been worse. Mike was able to get some of it drywalled before he got sick. This first pic is , or will be our mudroom /laundry room..... You can see part drywall and to the right...through the studs...will be our kitchen. it's a storage room now. I can't bear to show it to you.

We normally hang out upstairs in our bedroom/living room...but, we do have a t.v. room set up downstairs also. Ceiling is ready for wood planks.... some drywall is up, still much more to hang. Hopefully someday we can get back to it. Simply too broke now to even think about having it done.
But, you know... I have SO very much to be thankful for...and for heavens sakes..... I have plenty to keep up with as it is.... the cabin, the workshop, our beautiful yard and The whole upper level of the house.... really more than a girl needs. It would be nice to have a real kitchen in the house someday...lol ! We are making do just fine with the kitchenette in the workshoppe. I'm working this summer on making it , my office and storage space...something to be proud of. I'll keep you posted.

We had such a beautiful weekend here in Kentucky. Friday and Saturday - I had the store open...and it was great seeing customers off and on throughout the days. While I wasn't busy.... I spent my time out in the yard...working in the flower beds, and I scrubbed the porch of the farmhouse real good. My goodness... a white house gets SO dirty ...especially through the winter.

So, this is our home....below is my BEFORE pic.... I am working on decorating the porch and sprucing up the landscape... I will share the AFTER pic later on in the week.

I'm so excited to bring some life back to it. I've had a spurt of ideas of how to liven it up a bit...so, it's fun getting all of that done. I'm so proud of this house...It's so pretty...and I feel

very lucky to live here.
I have viburnum bushes planted on each side of the steps of the side door, where I run in and out of everyday. The smell is HEAVENLY ! If only the flowers lasted longer than a couple of weeks..... that would be awesome !I'm off and running..... As much as I'd love to continue working outside this entire week ( and I could and still not get it all done ) I am actually heading inside to complete a good assortment

of some special Cinnamon Creek rabbits and more....to have ready to offer for sale on my website on Tuesday afternoon. It's a good day for that...as we are getting a nice spring shower today. Perfect timing ! I can't wait to get back out on that porch though...and I'll show you how it turns out !

Friday Morning...

The windows are open, the robins are singing a joyful song this morning ! There are chocolate chip cookies in the oven ( from scratch nonetheless :-) ...Here, I'll prove it......Many of you may know that I'm usually not one to take the time to make anything from scratch... especially with my little kitchen situation these past few years ( more on that later )

but, that's going to change....I really want to start to take the time to prepare quality food.

Even the not so healthy and good for you treats.... need to at least be made with quality ingredients...right ? :-) And I have been planning some more healthy meals for the weekend...Maybe I'll share that on my next blog..who knows. lol !

Here are a few pics of our porch... I still have some more plants to add, cushions to make for

the chairs...and a few fine details...but, we are already enjoying some time out there. It's so good for my soul to be out there.... nothing but the birds singing to me.... I can even take much of my work out on this porch when the weather is just right. I love it so :-)

I'll share a little more as it progresses.... I still have so much to do in the yard.... Lots of cleaning up to do, after letting my flower beds go for the past couple of years. It's going to take a lot of work for me to get it back into shape, but, I'm ready !

I will leave you for now....as I have a few of my rabbits and bears that need tending to right now....just some finishing touches to add to them before I carry them out to the cabin this morning. I simply LOVE Fridays ! I open the cabin today and tomorrow from 10 until 3. So, come on over ! ....... I'll share my cookies with you :-)

After a week of rest and my first regular weekend opening the cabin ( which was so much fun, by the way :-) .... It's for a day of spring cleaning - outside ! All the porches need a good cleaning and sprucing up...Hopefully I can go buy some flowers too !
I long for days spent here again........
AND.... I'm dreaming of getting a few of these this year ........
So that we can simply enjoy the fun of having pretty chickens around , hearing a rooster crow, and eating lots of these.....
We know nothing at all about raising chickens... We started a coop years ago.... A friend is going to finish it for us, and I'm going to learn all I can on how to get started. Do any of you raise chickens ? I'd love to know ! We just want a few...maybe 6 or 8 ? Would love to know what breed you recommend.

Keeping it short and simple today.... I've got much to do this week ~ and I'll share it all with you along the way . I'm really looking forward to getting into all sorts of fun this month of April ! Please enjoy this day ....

Ever So Grateful....

It was 10 minutes after 7:00 - last Saturday morning. I had been awake practically all night...This is how I always am right before a special day at the cabin... Butterflies in my belly.... excited about the day, and wondering if anyone will show up...and if they do...will they be pleased with what they find? As I hopped on my little golf cart.... to pull around to the front of the cabin...to set up my little stand - for the door prize drawing........

They were ALREADY here ! OMG....more than 3 hours before I open door to this little cabin
and they are already starting the line ! ( the Butterflies are really fluttering ) AND these lovely ladies are seeing me at my very, very worst ! lol ! I had mismatched sweats on... wearing my hubbies jacket.... I was so pale faced...and I'm sure my hair was stuck flat on my head....oh, dear.... what am I to do...except just be my silly self...and do what I needed to do...

and then go get myself ready ! I was already so nervous, because the weather had turned off

cold again, and I was worried about Dear Pamela...as she had let me know the day before that

she was unable to bring herself and her flowers that we had been bragging about..

she was a bit under the weather...and just couldn't make it. I felt bad for her...and I did feel bad for the customers as well, that were looking forward to seeing all of that. But it worked out just fine . My dear friend, Tracy - who was helping me that day - brought many of her lovely plants to brighten our day. She was such a life saver !

The day was a huge success ! Our biggest crowd to date. AND I am SO GRATEFUL to all of my dear customers ! For those who came on Saturday...and to those who wanted to be here...but, too many miles between us..... Thanks for all the purchases, and kind comments. I am so very blessed ! You folks are truly the best customers in the WORLD ! I'll be taking just a few more days off - and then get back to creating...and I plan to offer much more on the website and this blog soon...........Keeping up with all that I need to , is quite a challenge. I find myself not always doing a good job of taking care of business as well as I should. Sometimes I get way behind. I always feel so bad about not getting things mailed in a timely manner, I have let my house cleaning go, my workshop is a nightmare of a mess... I can't keep up ! I always mean well...but, doggone it... a girl just has to sleep sometimes ! I always think that I am superwoman...and I think that I can do everything on that list that I make the night before.... I always let myself down...and at times, others...when I can't check off every item on that list. I am working on that. There is bound to be a way that I can do everything that needs doing in a week- It all has to start with getting organized - I am working on that plan...will post more about that soon.
As for this day.... I hope that yours is a grand one ! I'll be back to blogging and more in a few days.......

I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a Happy Spring ! I'm sure you are all like me...SO glad it's here ! It is actually warmer outside than inside today....so, since I have so much sewing and stuffing to do.... I'm dragging it all out on the porch to work on this afternoon. I'm not going to miss a second of this warmth and sunshine...and the birds will be singing - so no need for any other music to entertain me today ! I'll be back in touch in a few days......

Spring Gathering...

As I gather my thoughts this morning - I realize that I have got to focus on nothing but creating for the next 9 days. Wow ! 9 more days until the Open House ! I'll be making things like crazy in order for the store to be filled to the max with all that I've been planning over the last few months. I'm so excited for this early springtime gathering ! I hope that anyone who is near can make it over...
We'll be open 10:00 until 3:00. However...most get here and start lining up at least an hour before. There are many special one of a kinds to be had....lots of smalls this year too - sweet inexpensive things. From Primitive to Farmhouse, to Colonial Style....AND I'm very honored and excited to have Pamela joining me with her live flowers, herbs and garden goods ..... THIS will make things extra special this year ! All that, plus fun prizes, and good food.... It will be a good time !
I'll share pictures when it's over....or maybe a little before.... I might have to snap a few of the displays if I have time ;-)

Just Smile....

Yesterday, I was so sad.... Not just for my own little world, but, for all the tragedy happening all over this world of ours. Sometimes it can all get to be just too much to take...can't it ? However, I will not dwell, as I do have much to be grateful for, and so much to look forward to...I know things will get better. So, through the hard times, we all must put on a happy face...Smile, although we have a heavy heart . I am a simple writer. I envy those who can write so eloquently. But, I will be myself, and I'll focus more on sharing pictures.... afterall.... they can be worth thousands of words...right ? Smile :-)

So, here are a few cheerful pictures...they have brightened my day.... and have inspired me to get right to work this morning ! Some creations from my past few years.....I keep showing my old pictures... I'm saving all my new designs to show first at the Cabin Gathering...then, I will show pics from that. It's nice to have such surprises here for customers that come in....items never before seen.

I am working on lots of fun one of a kind items this year especially. It will be quite the spring event here at the cabin this year !

Enjoy your day... I will, until a bit later this afternoon...when I go to get a tooth pulled. Yikes ! I am sewing up a fresh pile of rabbits to stuff and assemble while I heal from that tomorrow. One less tooth...but, I'll keep on Smiling :-)

A Sepia Kind of Day...

After a beautiful, sunny weekend.... We woke up to a cloudy morning....It seems kind of sepia outside. I found these old pictures in my file. I took ALOT of pictures a long time ago.The world just doesn't seem as lovely to me as it once did. So much has changed in the past few years.
I got a spiffy new camera at Christmas...I really don't use it much. I'm not feeling much like being a creative photographer these days. That will probably change once it get prettier outside again. And, if I ever get my house fixed up again. I just haven't been interested in anything lately but making things and taking care of my little family.
That is all that I need to make me happy. However, It would be nice to get that Joyful feeling back in my heart again. I just want my husband to get better. I miss doing things with him so much. I want my Michael back.
I didn't mean for this quick little post to end like this. It just came out of me. That's how I'm feeling today... So, I'll just leave it at that. I have much to do today. Lots of little creations around needing to be finished. And then more things to start ! Hope that you have a lovely day.....

Finally .... A Sunny Day ! Why is it, that we always feel so much better when the sun shines ? I feel so full of spirit today ! Must be the promise of spring upon us. Today I am going to work on some new labels to put on old jars, make seed pouches and begin some more bears. I'm in a Jason Mraz kindof mood today...so, his music will be playing on my stereo, no doubt.
and I also want to spend some time out in the yard...cleaning up the plant beds. This is a pic of our little washhouse - behind the house. I always enjoy decorating and planting around it.

As I was going through old pictures this morning...looking for more motivation on how to set up my cabin this year... I got to thinking that many of you might not even know this part of me. For, as I've carried on this blog o' mine... I have been trying to keep it more about the farmhouse and me....but, you know what.... that isn't really working for me. This cabin...this "Cinnamon Creek" .....this is who I am. Since I have not been able to get my house projects going as much as I've wanted to... and , since it is about time to open the cabin for the season..... I do believe you will see alot more of this...and things about creating...more than ever . So, I hope not to bore any of you nice folks out there that have visited my site & store more than once...and but, to those who don't know about Cinnamon Creek, Please.....let me introduce you.....WELCOME

Cinnamon Creek Cabin is all about country. It's about simple things and creative things. It's mainly about things that I make - with some fun old primitive finds thrown in !

Counting down the days....

It's almost SPRING ! I know we are ALL ready for a little more warmth and ALOT more sunshine ! I've just been as busy as can be - getting ready for our Gathering here at the Cabin.I am literally piling up the goods.... I'm making SO MANY things this year... It's especially exciting for me - as I've never had one this early and I've got the opportunity to make many easter and springtime things this year. We usually have this event in May - and I miss out on offering such goods in the store. It's going to be wonderful !
One of the most exciting things this year is that I have a sweet Friend joining me to help make it all EXTRA special.... Pamela - from Beehind Thyme Garden and Wares - will be here with many herbs, plants, flowers and garden goods ! Oh, Yeah!!!! Cinnamon Creek will be blossomin' come March 26th...such a fun and fresh way to kick off the season!
I've had quite a rough past few days... dealing with a killer toothache - the infection, antibiotics and pain killers...has me.....well, lets just say - I'm not really "all here"...lol...So, that's all I will write for now... Come this weekend.... I'll fill you in on a few more details of what we have in store for the Gathering...and I might even give you a little tiny sneak peak of a few new things.

My Little World

I truly understand that little saying...." I live in my own world....It's okay...they know me there "
That's where I have been ! When I have a mission to accomplish.... I drown myself in it. I have to focus and fully concentrate on the project at hand...so,
that I do the best job I can. I have a one track mind...that is for sure !
I've been making things like crazy....preparing for my Spring Open House at the Cabin. There is still a whole month to go ! I am determined to have this little store of mine - BRIMMING with all of the things that I love to make....AND that so many of you wonderful customers out there seem to want to buy ! Words cannot express how grateful I am to have many folks support what I do...and purchase so much of my little creations. I don't ever want to let you down ! This spring OPen House promises to be back to lots and lots of just good , simple country style handmades....lots of surprises...things you've never seen before...and some extra special cabin goods made by other friends will be offered this year ! More on that later :-)

I must get back to my little world...still keeping a good eye on my hubby, and taking care of all my little furry friends ! If you are waiting on an order from me...It is on it's way this week..... last week was almost impossible to get away.

Farmhouse Bath...

Today, I am showing you a few pics of our extra big Bathroom that hubby put together for us several years ago. Before he got sick. Oh, He has done such a wonderful job on this house so far. I've had these pictures plus many more posted on my CINNAMON CREEK site for years. I know many of you are new to me...So, I'm sharing what we've done so far. It's been 3 years now since we've been able to do any more work on this old house. When you walk in right now...it is a complete construction zone....I've learned to live with it. Hopefully Michael will feel like getting back to work on it someday...If not...That is perfectly fine. I'm just happy to have him and a roof over our heads . I should really start playing the lottery...because that is the only way we would ever be able to have it done by anyone else. I did, at one time..send my pics and story to HGTV... thinking they would love the idea of coming to our Fine Farmhouse and helping us out a bit...lol... I suppose they are too busy for that ! This really is my favorite room !

A little peak....

Here's a little peak into my world as it is right now. I've been hunting , gathering, and creating like a mad woman ! I've been snowed in so much lately, Haven't been able to get out and about for quite sometime...due to one thing or another. I actually don't mind - I'm quite the homebody. I'm never quite comfortable anywhere else but home.

I must get out today... I've got a few orders that must get mailed out....but, I won't be gone long.... There is simply too much to do around this Fine Farmhouse and cabin.... I cannot wait to get started on some new ideas I'm working on !

I'm enjoying peaceful winter days...preparing for a grand SPRING ! Stitching away on all kinds of early style dolls .... The kind you would think were so old , your great , great grandma would have played with them as a child....So, tattered and torn. These...as well as my bears and other little folk art pieces... are all coming together quite nicely. I am piling things up here in the farmhouse. Looking forward to my Gathering at the Cabin come March 26th . I'm keeping much under wraps...as I hope to really surprise those who come on that day ( Hoping YOU will be one of those people ) .... I will sneak you a peek everynow and again though :-) ....This is simply a still life of things I'm working with today....

It happened on Saturday....

It was Saturday afternoon...just a typical day...cozy in my chair...stitching away on some little doll, watching an old movie that I had never seen before. All was quiet - as Michael was not feeling well...so, he was upstairs...taking a nap. We live on a fairly busy Highway. I'm used to the sounds

of the cars and coal trucks whizzing by. The occassional clip clop of an Amish Horse and buggy making their way way down the road. I pay no attention to all that noise anymore. All of the sudden.... right outside my window.... I heard it. Words can't describe the sounds. I didn't hear any motor sounds before it happened....just crashing, barreling, lumbering. What had happened ? I thought maybe that big old barn across the road had finally decided to fall to the ground. I stepped out the door. I heard a horn. It was constant. My heart raced. I ran back in to slip on my clogs. I grabbed my phone. I ran. I ran towards the road. I saw nothing out of the ordinary. Just heard the horn. There is nothing but trees and brush in this area. The horn was coming from deep within this brushy area. Still I see nothing. Then a voice. HELP ME. I prayed. I ran. The voice was back up - closer to the road. About 100 feet from where the truck that I finally saw...down the hill in the brush ...... I dialed 911. Please come quick, I said.... there has been an accident. I don't know what to do ! I finally made it to him. The ambulance is on the way , I said. The first words out of his mouth....can you please call my Momma? He asked. Yes... I will call her...as soon as help arrives. I asked how old he was... 17 he said. I asked.... was there anyone else with you...No, he said. Soon, the horn on that truck stopped blowing. Silence. ANd I talked to him for a bit. I know it was just a few minutes...but, it felt like an hour while we waited for help... He said his back hurt and his lips were all busted up...but, He didn't look so bad. Beat up, and bruised up a bit...but, not bloody. He was hurting bad.... moaning in pain.....I just kept talking to him...Finally... that big red rescue truck arrived. Then the ambulance. They took over from there. I just stood back and watched - while these wonderful people, my neighbors.... came to help this young man. I called his Momma once they got there. And told her... What was I to say ? I told her that her son was on his way to the hospital..and he was going to be just fine. I was keeping myself together. I handled it all well. I lingered for a bit...along with several other folks that had gathered since the rescuers had arrived. I told the officer what I'd heard and what little I saw. Once the young man was loaded onto the Ambulance... I made my way back up the hill, crossed the road... and back to the house I went. Thank Heavens.... he was in good hands. I just knew he was going to be fine. I made it back inside. The credits on the movie were running... It was just over. I turned off the T.V. Chills went down my spine...through every inch of my body. I sat and cried. ANd cried some more. I've cried alot over this boy...whom I don't even know. It could have been so much worse. I called to check on him yesterday. His Momma said he was fine..just alot of bumps and bruises. Back pain and a swollen lip. He is going to be fine. I never asked what happened. After seeing where he went off the road - and where he ended up...versus where his truck ended up.... It was a miracle.... Truly the Good Lord was watching over him. Just last night, I heard that 11 teenagers a day - are killed due to distracted driving. As I said... I never asked what happened... but... we can all imagine that he

was distracted.....texting, or whatever. There were no other vehicles around when it happened. I'm sure he's learned a great lesson. I know I have.... I am taking a quiet week to ponder on these lessons learned...and messages sent. And asking myself and the Lord above... alot of hows and whys .... Not that I haven't done that before... My goodness...when Michael was going through so much of his heart troubles....... I had alot of these quiet times, trying to find the answer kind of times. This is a whole new batch of thoughts and questions I am pondering....... I will be back in touch soon. I' m working on lots of good things during this quiet time of mine. A different kind of week....

Just a simple week - I bought a COLORFUL sweater . I mean colorful ! Anyone who knows me - knows this is unusual...as I'm more of an earthy girl. But, I was at the Goodwill store and it was calling my name ! It was only 2.50, never been worn... I wore it yesterday.... Made me feel bright and HAPPY :-) Maybe I'll buy some more colorful clothes .

I also painted my nails. I NEVER paint my nails. It's just not "Me" .... I like them .

I've been eating a little bit healthier.... Have been working out just a little. I've lost 5 lbs. Maybe if I try a little harder, I can loose even more.

Simple things....but, have brought me much JOY.

I've been concentrating on my work this past week as well... My decorating project is on hold until I can find a little time to paint a piece of furniture or two, AND get out and find some new bedding.

I'll share when I'm ready.

We've been enjoying being cooped up in our Fine Farmhouse during this last snow. This is the view out my living room window....

As I began to clean and decorate one of the upstairs bedrooms , I was trying to vision the look that I wanted to achieve.... I am in desperate need of pillows for my beds. REALLY cool pillows. Of course, my mind went on overload...as , I do love me some pillows... I have been creating all sorts of pillows for years to sell...why in the heck haven't I ever saved any for myself ? Sooooooo , I made my way out to the workshop...to dilly dally through my fabric stash. The colors inspired me ! And I dId THIS.......and THIS...

Which are all getting finished and will be like THIS....Needless to say... my day of decorating ended up being
a day of brainstorming and creating for my line..... afterall... It is what I love best ! It goes to show ya'.... One little thing always seems to lead to another.... decorating to creating a whole new line of FARMHOUSE goods.... Not only can I vision a whole new line of pillows to add to the simpler ones that I've done in the past...I can do pouches,totes, wall hangings, oh...the possibilities ! Can't wait to offer some on the CINNAMON CREEK site soon.... And imagine what all I can do for the CABIN.... This'll all be a great new look to have at our Spring Gathering in March !
